Isabelle Smith

Provisional Psychologist Intern

We welcome Isabelle who will be commencing an internship at Valley Family Health in July 2021. Interns provide low cost psychology services as part of their postgraduate professional training. See our FAQs page or call us for more information about this program.

Isabelle is a provisional psychologist completing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at Monash University. Isabelle adopts a compassion-focussed approach whilst striving to empower clients to apply psychological strategies beyond the therapy room. Isabelle works with each client to understand their individual therapy goals and to live a life that is rich and meaningful.

Isabelle has experience working with a range of individuals facing various mental health challenges in both an inpatient and outpatient setting. Specifically, Isabelle has worked with clients experiencing stress, depression, generalised anxiety and worry, social anxiety, borderline personality disorder, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and poor overall wellbeing.

Isabelle takes an eclectic therapy approach, applying strategies from cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and schema-based approaches. Each treatment plan is always tailored accordingly to the unique needs of the client, their situation, and personal goals.
